No one will ever convince me that the following exchange didn't happen during the Neon Trees' sound check for last night's show:

Venue sound crew: And here, we've got these really sweet cordless mics....
Tyler: Wait. Cordless?
Crew: Yeah, they're really awesome, check out the--
Tyler: I don't do cordless.
Crew: But.. *splutter* sound quality... um...
Tyler: I'm sure they're excellent mics. But I won't be able to do mic cord tricks with them and that is just not ok.
Crew: *mutter* We've got a giant post in the middle of our stage to hold the roof up. Mic cord tricks are very dangerous for our equipment *mutter*
Tyler: I am VERY GOOD at controlling the arc of my mic cord swings. And the thing is, I can't drink booze like all your other acts. How am I supposed to keep my energy up through an entire show if I can't asphyxiate myself? Do you have an answer for that one? Hmmm???????
Crew: Uh, I guess we do have this one mic with a cord. But the cord is, uh, bright orange.
Tyler: I'll take it.
Crew: Ok, but could you please use our regular mic EXCEPT when you need to asphyxiate yourself?
Tyler: That seems like a reasonable request. Sure.

WELL HE WAS USING THE CORDLESS MIC FOR MOST OF THE SHOW. EXCEPT THEN HE SWAPPED IT OUT FOR THE ONE WITH THE BRIGHT ORANGE CORD JUST SO HE COULD DO THE STANDARD "SWING IT OVER HIS HEAD IN A BROAD ARC, STOP IT BY LETTING IT WRAP AROUND HIS NECK" THING.

IT IS THE ONLY EXPLANATION.
