I just realized that this year features both X-Men: First Class and the Harry Potter movie with all the Dumbledore/Grindlewald bits. As well as the epic Clexy finale of Smallville.

Seriously, the only way 2011 could be more fanservice-y to epershand-from-2004 would be if Joss Whedon were all "hey guys, I just made a movie about Ethan and Giles hanging out and being morally-ambiguous young wizards."

Bwahahahaha. As soon as the trailers for X-Men First Class came out, I dubbed it "X-Men: That fanfic everybody wrote in 2003." So, yeah, that's about the speed of it.

And here I've spent the last few months worried: "But what if they make this movie and it ISN'T GAY ENOUGH? I would be devastated..."

I haven't seen it yet, but it's good to hear from people who have that I probably won't be devastated.

Hilarious truth: I like the X-Men and all but was never all that into Charles/Erik -- it's totally there and I dig it, that was just very COVERED by the time I got into the fandom and thus was free to obsess about James Marsden. Then they went and cast McAvoy & Fassbender, who are two of my imaginary husbands for completely non-superhero related reasons. And now there is a fuckyeahmcavoyfassbender tumblr, which is so much like something I would have dreamed a year ago, that I will have to keep this in my mind always for when I doubt that fandom loves me and wants me to be happy.
