You know, when I think about it, I might be more annoyed at Adam getting credit for thinking so hard than I am by Eve. Which doesn't make much sense, because it's Eve's story that's had such a huge historical footprint, gender-wise, and of course Schwartz had to flesh out his characters. And this is a musical that puts Eden somewhere in the vicinity of the ancient British pagans, so really, all bets are off. It's just that the Adam-resisting-temptation motif is a very old pet peeve of mine.
(Mind, when I say I haven't forgiven Stephen Schwartz, I'm not all that angry about it; I haven't sworn off Schwartz or even Children of Eden, I just don't tend to listen to that part.)
